Yami Payano is CEO and Co-Founder of Sign-Speak[1][3], a company developing AI translation tools for accessibility services serving the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community[2]. Payano holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics from American University[11] and studied Mandarin at Peking University[12]. Prior to founding Sign-Speak in January 2021[3], Payano worked as a Quantitative Analyst and Financial Engineer in Fair Lending Analytics at Fannie Mae[4][5], served as an Associate at the Urban Institute[10], and held fellowships at Georgetown University and the American Economic Association[8][9]. Payano also founded the Cross Campus Organizing Network[6] and served as Student Body President at American University[7].
