Overview
Raaz Dwivedi is a cofounder at Traversal [1][3] and an Assistant Professor at Cornell Tech [4]. Dwivedi's research focuses on methods, models, and evaluations for AI systems operating in complex, real-world environments [2]. Dwivedi earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley [8][11] and a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay [12]. Prior to cofounding Traversal in November 2023 [3], Dwivedi held postdoctoral research fellowships at both MIT and Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences from August 2021 to August 2023 [6][7]. Dwivedi's research background spans causal inference, reinforcement learning, distribution compression, and the training and evaluation of large language models and AI agents [2].
Profile introduction
AI is moving beyond generating answers toward operating in complex, real-world environments. My research focuses on the methods, models, and evaluations needed to make that transition possible. That journey has taken me from a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley, to postdoctoral research at Harvard and MIT, and now to Cornell Tech. Along the way, my work has evolved from causal inference, reinforcement learning, and distribution compression to the training, evaluation, and deployment of large language models and AI agents—with a consistent focus on making intelli…
