Wessel is a Partner at First Round Capital as of September 2023[1][2]. Prior to this role, Wessel served as a Visiting Group Partner at Y Combinator from April 2022 to August 2023[4] and worked as an angel investor from January 2016 to September 2023[3]. Wessel co-founded and served as CEO of WayUp from July 2014 to February 2022[6], subsequently holding an advisor position there until April 2023[5]. Earlier career experience includes roles as Associate Product Marketing Manager and Product Marketing Manager at Google from July 2012 to July 2014[7][8]. Wessel also co-founded and served as CEO of PennEats while attending university from April 2010 to May 2012[9]. Wessel holds a BA with Honors in Political Science, Mathematics, and Japanese from the University of Pennsylvania, completed in June 2012[10].
