Leslie Mitchell

Overview

Leslie Mitchell serves as Chief Scientific Officer at Opentrons Labworks Inc. as of October 2025[3] and is passionate about genome-scale cell engineering[2]. Mitchell is also Co-founder and CEO of Neochromosome, Inc., a position held since July 2017[4]. Mitchell's research background includes a postdoctoral fellowship at New York University from January 2014 to March 2020[5] and an earlier postdoctoral position at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine from August 2011 to December 2013[6]. Mitchell holds a Ph.D. in Systems Biology from the University of Ottawa (2005–2011)[7], a Master of Science in Genomics and Molecular Evolution from Simon Fraser University[8], and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Waterloo[9].
