Abed is co-founder at AI Astrolabe as of March 2024[3][1]. Abed specializes in artificial intelligence with a focus on delivering high-quality Arabic data for large language models to develop more inclusive AI systems[2]. Abed holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Universität des Saarlandes, completed between 2010 and 2015[11], and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the same institution between 2009 and 2010[12]. Prior to founding AI Astrolabe, Abed served as Assistant Professor at Effat University beginning in August 2022[4] and as co-founder of Soaal from January 2020 to January 2024[5]. Abed previously held postdoctoral positions at TU Munich and TU Berlin in 2015 and 2016[7][8], and worked as a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics from 2010 to 2015[9].
