Etienne Sanz de Acedo

Overview

Etienne Sanz de Acedo serves as CEO at the International Trademark Association (INTA)[1], overseeing the strategic direction and operations of the world's largest network of brand owners and professionals, comprising 6,500 companies and firms and 35,000 professionals from over 180 countries dedicated to supporting trademarks and related intellectual property[2]. Sanz de Acedo has held this position since July 2013[3]. Prior to joining INTA, Sanz de Acedo worked at the European Union Intellectual Property Office from September 1997 to June 2013 in roles including Member of the Cabinet of the President and Head of Communication Service[4], while also serving as Assistant Professor of intellectual property and commercial law at Universitat d'Alacant from 1995 to 2013[5]. Sanz de Acedo's earlier career included work as an intellectual property and EU competition lawyer at multiple firms between 1993 and 1997[6]. Educational credentials include an MBA from IE Business School[8], executive education from London Business School[7], and a Young Managers Programme from INSEAD[9].
