Stratum Industries
Stratum Industries is a Y Combinator-backed artificial intelligence company headquartered in New York City [8]. Founded in 2026 [9], the company was accepted into Y Combinator's Summer 2026 batch [3]. Stratum builds AI agents designed to address backlogs in U.S. government administrative processes [2]. The company's agents handle applications including permits, licenses, patents, drug approvals, and benefits claims by automating the review workflow [6]. According to the company description, reviewers input applications and select relevant rubrics, after which agents plan, execute, and review files end-to-end while routing steps to appropriate models [6]. The system maintains human oversight and auditability throughout the process [6]. Stratum was founded by two brothers: Vihaan, a former founding engineer at Cadastral, and Raj, who previously led go-to-market efforts at Deel [6]. The company operates with a team of two [10].
About
- Stratum builds AI agents that clear the U.S. government backlog. Every permit, license, patent, drug approval, and benefits claim in America has to be reviewed by a government adjudicator and the software they rely on was built decades before AI. The result is millions of applications stuck in queues: veterans waiting on disability ratings, families waiting on pensions, builders waiting years to break ground. Stratum replaces that workflow. A reviewer drops in an application, selects the rubric it needs to be checked against, and an agent plans, executes, and reviews the file end to end routing each step to the right model for the most accurate and cost-efficient decision. Hundreds of agents run in parallel in the cloud, with a human kept in the loop to approve and full auditability at every step, so an entire backlog can be cleared in the time it used to take to review a single file. We're rebuilding the entire infrastructure the government runs on both the reviewer side and the applicant side - so filing and adjudication become instant instead of taking weeks. We're Vihaan and Raj, brothers. Vihaan was founding engineer #3 at Cadastral (acquired by Legora) and dropped out of Waterloo to build Stratum. Raj led GTM at Deel, averaging 220% of quota over two years and ranking top 5 of 1,000+ reps globally, and dropped out of grad school at the University of Bath to build Stratum.[6]
- Stratum Industries is the applied AI company for governments. We build AI agents that automate the slow, complex manual workflows governments run on, starting with application review, where files are still reviewed by hand, one at a time, leaving millions stuck in queues. Stratum's agents review applications end to end with a human in the loop and full auditability, clearing entire backlogs in a fraction of the time. Our mission is to deploy AI across every vertical inside the government, saving agencies tens of billions in administrative cost and making the government one of the most efficient institutions in the world.[16]
