NYU Tisch School of the Arts

The Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at NYU Tisch School of the Arts was founded in 1979 as "the first graduate program of its kind"[2]. ITP is a two-year full-time graduate program awarding a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) degree that requires 60 credits to complete[3]. Classes are "small by design (usually 12-16 students)" and all meet in person at 721 Broadway, New York, NY 10003[4][5]. The program gained prominence in the AI industry as the birthplace of Runway, an AI company whose founders met at ITP. CEO Cristobal Valenzuela stated that "ITP was essential education for me and my co-founders - it's where Runway was born"[1]. In April 2026, Runway expanded its collaboration with NYU Tisch, providing ITP, Interactive Media Arts, and the Hyper Cinema Lab access to its AI tools[1].
